OVERVIEW

A Pocket PC or PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is a hand held, PC that runs under the Windows CE operating system. Despite their compact size, they include the most popular programs found on conventional laptops and desktops. There are thousands of applications for Pocket PC, many of which are free!

Pocket Hal gives access to Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket Outlook and Pocket Internet Explorer, as well as many other applications including MSN and phone services.

Pocket Hal is based on the proven Hal screen reader for laptops and desktops and supports input and output via a range of compatible Bluetooth Braille devices such as the Humanware Brailliant 24 Braille display and Optelec EasyLink Braille keyboard. Dolphin has developed its own keyboard driver which allows such external devices to communicate with the PDA, thus alleviating the need to use the touch screen.

When bundled with a foldaway Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth headset one can work on the PDA without even taking the PDA out of your pocket! This permits discrete use when in public places.

Pocket Hal works out of the box with more applications than any other mobile access solution and is easily adaptable to work with non standard applications. This is because Pocket Hal provides powerful tools for training the screen reader to recognize output from many non standard PDA applications.

A single Pocket Hal license covers you the user, and not just one PDA, so you don't have to buy a new Pocket Hal license when you buy a new Pocket PC.
